Storing Solar Energy
Studies show that solar power is the fastest-growing type of energy source today. The solar market has doubled in size since 2016, resulting in the development of the solar battery to store solar power.
The typical solar energy system uses solar panels, an inverter, and a monitoring system. The basic process goes as follows: solar panels collect energy from the sun, this energy is turned into power or electricity which will then pass through the inverter, and be transformed into a form that you can use.
How can solar energy be stored in the batteries?
Typically, a solar battery transforms the DC energy and stores it as an AC power essential for later use. Take note that the higher the capacity of your battery is, the more energy it can hold.
When you consider a solar battery installation as part of your solar power system, you can store extra electricity essential for your home instead of transporting it back to the grid. If your solar panels are generating more electricity, the excess energy will be stored in the batteries. When your panels are not generating electricity, you can use the energy that is stored in the batteries for night use. You can only transport the energy back to the grid once your battery is fully charged.
Should you consider installing a solar battery?
Installing solar batteries allows you to maximize your benefits from solar panels. It is recommended that you consider installing them with you solar panel package.
Power and capacity
Solar batteries are specially created to be “stackable”, which means you can include multiple batteries in your solar storage system for additional capacity. Take note that a battery with higher capacity and a lower rating of power can deliver a low amount of electricity for a long period of time; while a battery that contains lower capacity with a higher rating of power can produce greater electricity but for a few hours only.
Solar batteries' lifespan
The lifespan of a solar battery is between 5 to 15 years. If you install batteries, you will need to replace them once to meet the lifespan of your PV system, which is typically 25 to 30 years.
Investing in solar batteries or other energy storage technologies keeps you in lockstep with the rise of renewable energy. Some solar companies have created solar power batteries that are readily available for installation with solar panels, to produce an efficient solar storage system for your home.
